Specific Learning Difficulties

Our awareness-raising training will increase your understanding of specific learning difficulties (dyscalculia, dyspraxia, dyslexia and dysgraphia); developing your skills and confidence with practical strategies to better support children, young people, adults and families living with specific learning difficulties. We will consider each separate condition and its impact on learning and living skills inside and outside the home, as well as the potential emotional and social impact. Delegates will learn to develop strategies for practical use when working with children, young people and their families.

Training can be delivered as full-day, half-day or twilight sessions with learning outcomes tailored appropriately.

Who is the training for?

This training is designed to support professionals working with children, young children, adults and families living with specific learning difficulties.  

It is based on the most recent good practice guidance and parent/carers themselves as experts in their own experience. 

By the end of the training, participants will:

  • Understand dyslexia and its impact on learning and day to day activities
  • Understand dyspraxia and its impact on learning and day to day activities
  • Understand dysgraphia and its impact on learning and day to day activities
  • Understand dyscalculia and its impact on learning and day to day activities 
  • Identify appropriate tools for working with children and young people with specific learning difficulties 
  • Identify opportunities to change practice and move forward
